Custom Design Process
Capture a Memory in Stained Glass
Producing a Custom Design involves a process of transforming your idea into a beautiful Stained Glass image. The unique qualities of Stained Glass - texture, light and color - will make a fine addition to your home.
- Present Your Idea Contact Gerard with your idea. He can work from a photo or will discuss any ideas you may have. Communications can be made by email, phone, mail or personal visit. Careful measurements are discussed for the Stained Glass piece to meet your specifications for placement. During this consultation step, Gerard will submit a cost estimate and delivery schedule. Upon agreement a down payment will be required and then Gerard will proceed with a design rendering.
- A Drawing The next step of transforming your idea is a drawing. The drawing will show you the shapes and color suggestions. It cannot give an exact representation because Stained Glass has color and texture not easily represented in another medium. To aid in this process, glass samples are provided with the drawing. This is the time you can make changes to the design. This step also includes finalizing any architectural elements and size specifications. With your final approval of the drawing and a second payment, Gerard will begin the Fabrication of your Custom Stained Glass Design.
- Fabrication of Design Glass selection and ordering begins the transition from the design rendering to the fabrication process. Gerard's Studio is equipped with hand and power tools to insure high quality production of Stained Glass designs. This includes: Light table and drafting tools, Hand Glass cutters, Power saw for detail cuts, Grinders, Copper Foil machines and Leading equipment. Gerard will notify you a week before completion. The final payment and special shipping and handling charges are due at this time. Upon receipt, Gerard will arrange the delivery of your Custom Stained Glass Design.
